Study of the characteristics of educational motivation of medical college students

The relevance of the study of educational motivation is due to the updating of the content of training, setting the tasks of forming independent acquisition of knowledge among college students. The importance of a problem-oriented approach to understanding motivation as a factor in successful professional self-determination is emphasized. The article considers the types of motives and motivations, including extrinsic (external) motivation, intrinsic (internal) motivation, positive and negative motivations. They are characterized by motivation by source and orientation, by the nature of reinforcement. Particular emphasis is placed on educational motivation. The article concludes about the necessary accompaniment of 1st and 2nd year students in order to optimize both professional and personal motives, identifies ways to increase the student's interest and positive attitude to educational activities, proposes a direct way to maintain cognitive motivation of educational activities.
